1600's

In the years between 1672 and 1696 the Adams family seemed to be settled in the village with seven births in the Parish Registers of St Mary at Great Brickhill. There were also four deaths but apparently no marriages. The head of the family was George Adams. He and his wife Ann had a daughter Anne in 1672. Anne, the wife of George, was buried in 1680/01. Since there were no more baptisms until 1684, it is most likely that the children born in the 1680s and 90s were of the next generation. These were Elizabeth 1684, Jane 1687, George 1690, Anne 1694 (died 1695) and Benjamin and Joseph 1696 (both died 1696). These were all shown in the register as sons or daughters of George only with no indication of his wife. There appear to be no further registrations in the village in this century. However the records show the burial of George in 1708 and of Jane, a widow, very probably his wife in 1720.

A generation is then missing because the next Great Brickhill record is in the 1740s. There are however other Adams' in the area. Records are to be found in Linslade, Stewkley, Soulbury and Newton Longville.
